Anvil National Recreation Trail

Anvil is excellent for hiking and mountain biking in summer and fall. It is also a designated watchable wildlife area, especially for woodland warblers. A trail map is available at the trailhead. One of the oldest and most popular cross-country ski trails in the Eagle River area. Trails are groomed for traditional style-skiing as well as ski-skating. Several loops are available over varied terrain from easy to difficult.

Directions

From Eagle River, take State Highway 70 east for 9 miles to Parking Lot #1 on right (south), which can accommodate 20 vehicles. Or take State Highway 70 east 8 miles to Military Road (FR 2178), and turn right (south) to Parking Lot #2 on the left (east),
