Newman Springs Trail

Located in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest near Newman Lake Recreation Area, this 7-mile non-motorized trail offers a variety of vegetation types and two spring ponds and two creek crossings. Activities include mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, snowshoeing, and beginner and expert level classic cross country skiing-5 loops. There is also a variety of topography with more hills along this trail as compared to others in the area. Because of the wetlands, only a portion of the trails are open for year round use. Hiking is pretty easy in that much of the hikeable trail follows old logging roads. In the winter, the trail is groomed for classical cross country skiing and provides a pleasant tour for the beginner and experienced skier with varying degrees of difficulty. A National Forest parking fee is required. The daily fee can be paid at the trailhead. An annual sticker can be purchased at the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest at the office at 1170 S. 4th Avenue / Highway 13 in Park Falls or online.
