Kewaunee County is the place to go to experience one of Wisconsin's Great Lakes - Lake Michigan. Explore Algoma and see it's historic character unfold during a stroll through its charming downtown and waterfront districts. The view from the beachfront boardwalk of this Great Lakes fishing port includes a century-old red lighthouse at the end of the breakwater pier. Bike the Ahnapee State Trail; an 18-mile section runs north from Algoma to Sturgeon Bay, and a new 9-mile section runs southwest to Casco Junction crossing the Kewaunee River on a wooden bridge. Ten miles south along the lakeshore lies Kewaunee, the county seat. Getting away from it all in Kewaunee means enjoying antiquing, the charm of the city’s lovely Lake Michigan harbor and its historic lighthouse and maritime spirit.
