Railroad aficionados love Spooner. Here, they can ride in elegant, refurbished railway cars dating from 1910 to 1930 aboard excursions offered by the Wisconsin Great Northern Railroad. Spooner is also the home of the Railroad Memories Museum in the city’s former C&NW depot. In summer you can also tour Spooner’s state fish hatchery where the Wisconsin DNR grows musky, walleye and northern pike.
Top photo opportunity is…
Take a ride on a historic train which passes through some of the most scenic country in Northern Wisconsin. The ride is especially popular in the fall when the trees turn to brilliant shades of red, orange and yellow. Another great photo opportunity is the giant cowboy located on the north end of town. Spooner is home to a professional rodeo and its cowboy mascot stands proud welcoming everyone to the area.
