Starting Monday, April 1st, a Spring Closure west into effect for ATV/UTV and snowmobile traffic on all Bayfield County trails. The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest’s spring closure is also in effect which prohibits ATVs, motorcycles, horses and bikes from being ridden on the Forest roads and trails. This will help deter damage to the trails which can be very costly and difficult to repair. The Tri-County Corridor and Road Routes will remain open for ATV use during this time. Depending on conditions, the trails are tentatively scheduled to reopen for ATV/UTV use on May 1st. 3-30-2013 Snowmobile It does look like spring! There is very little snow left and the lakes are not safe for ice fishing. Have a great spring and summer and I believe this weekend the ski hills will be closed for the season. For information on the 158 miles of trails in Washington County call 262-334-6061 or www.wcasc.org. – For maps 262-628-2282 they will be pleased to help. Maps are now available in our local businesses or by contacting the Wash Co CVB. You will need to check to see if Sunburst Ski Hill is open – look at their web site www.skisunburst.com and now we have www.wcasc.org

Trails are closed for the season. Waukesha County’s trail sytem is split up into three sections, because of land development. The North Section consists of trails north of I-94. The Southwest Section consists of trails in Mukwonago, Eagle, and Kettle Moraine State Forest. The Southest Section consists of trails in Muskego and New Berlin.If you are caught riding trails in Waukesha County when they are closed your DNR # on your sled will be turned over to the law enforcement for trespassing.
