Riding is Fair to Good with conditions most likely to deteriorate over the next several days. Today we're expected to get rain/sleet/and up to 4 inches of snow, but the temps are to be in the high 40's over the weekend. While we still have a good, solid trail base... the trails that are in the open, along the roadways, and through the city of Hayward have numerous bare spots. The trails throughout the woods are in good condition. We received close to 12 inches of snow last week, but the warming temperatures are causing the trails to start getting soft and sticky in some areas. Also... Grooming has ceased for the season. The Lake trails are still in Good condition... just make sure to stay close to the stakes and on the well ridden trails to avoid getting stuck in the deep slush/snow. The trails thru the Chequamegon National Forest WILL REMAIN OPEN and assessed daily - depending on the weather and any snowfall (disregard the note on the trail map that the Chequamegon trails close March 15th) Remember - these are late season riding conditions... and many area resorts are closed for gas, food, or lodging - so please call ahead if possible. www.haywardlakes.com

VILAS COUNTY SNOWMOBILE TRAILS ARE CLOSED See you all next season The 2013-2014 Sledding Season has come to an end. Yesterday, the last day of riding brought a heavy down pour of rain in the mid afternoon. So we truly are at an end. The trail closing includes both lake trails - Catfish Lake Loop & Eagle Lake Trails. The orange reflective barrels have been removed from Catfish Lake Loop by the owners of Braywood & Tijan's 12 Pines. The orange reflective barrels are still on the Eagle Lake Trail. Do not ride on either of these lake trails even though the barrels are still on Eagle Lake. When the ice loosens around the orange barrels on Eagle Lake businesses will remove the barrels. What a year! 3 1/2 months of riding. Deep snow & cold temperatures all winter kept trail in really great condition. That's it for this year. Sno-Eagles Snowmobile Club & the other 10 clubs in Vilas County do not disappear when the trails close. Check out Sno-Eagles.org or our FACEBOOK page Sno-Eagles Snowmobile Club for the latest activities & updates about the club. Time to clean up the sleds & ready them for the summer. The end is here. Warmer temps have made many mud holes on parts of the trail. Each club did an outstanding job of marking and maintaining the trails this season. You can help them - support your local club by becoming a member, donate a few hours over the year by helping with trails and fundraisers. And if you can't do that, please buy a few extra raffle tickets, stop at the brat fry's, or donate directly to the groomer funds each club has. Thank you - see you in 2015 Trail passes can now be purchased at Fox River Travel - BP Station in Princeton. USE THE HOTLINE BEFORE RIDING TO MAKE SURE TRAILS ARE OPEN - recorded message at 920-294-3220 TRESPASSING HAS BECOME A PROBLEM - Please stay on the trails - While you may not think you are causing any problems - riding outside the marked trails will only destroy club and landowner relations . When landowners get upset they say NO TRAIL THROUGH HERE ANYMORE! And then where will you ride? So use your head and stay on the trails. Please join a club to help support the great trail system these clubs provide. PLEASE -STAY ON TRAILS - NO TRESPASSING greenlakecountysnowmobiletrails.com
