Copper Falls State Park |

The park features 13.7 miles (22 km) of classic ski trails and 6.5 miles (10.5 km) of skate ski trails. The park has trails to suit all skill levels from beginner to experienced skiers. Trails are groomed on a regular basis as the Lake Superior Snow Belt is known for constant snowfall. Hikers, snowshoers and pets are not allowed on the groomed ski trails. There are two multi-use trails at Copper Falls State Park, the Winter Waterfalls Trail (Purple Loop) at the north end of the park and the Red Granite Falls Trail (Red Loop) near Loon Lake. The Doughboys Trail is not maintained during winter and is closed for safety. Snowshoeing and winter hiking are also allowed off-trail in the park, except on the groomed ski trails. |

The City of Superior is proud to offer 27.78 kilometers of groomed cross-country ski trails ranging from beginner to advanced in the beautiful Superior Municipal Forest. The Forest is comprised of 4,400 acres of forest and natural habitat, making it the third largest forest within a city in the nation. It is the best remaining example of a boreal forest (conifers and hardwood, including white and red pine, balsam, cedar, black spruce, white birch, and aspen) in the state of Wisconsin. Our forest is a beautiful place to ski! We offer trails, for skiers of all abilities. |

The Red Cedar State Trail is groomed for both skate and stride skiing between Menomonie and Downsville. Self registration boxes are located in Menomonie or Downsville. The trail section south of Downsville is open for snowshoeing, fat tire biking, skijoring, and winter hiking. Fat tire bikers are required to have a state trail pass as well. Hoffman Hills Recreation has 10 miles of trail groomed for both skate and stride skiing. Additional trails are open for snowshoeing and winter hiking. Ski trails are only open for cross country skiing when the trails are groomed. Please use other trails in the area for other activities such as snowshoeing, skijoring, and fat tire biking as these activities cause damage to the ski trails. |

This is open to snowshoeing, hiking and skiing, but again is not groomed. |

Kettlebowl Cross-Country Ski Trail is 4.3 miles long and includes three loops, groomed for classic and skate skiing. Kettlebowl XC Ski Trail groomers will try to groom every Saturday morning. In addition, when Kettlebowl Ski Hill is closed, park by the entrance parking area. The trailhead is a short distance from the entrance gate. Please be sure to not block the gate. Winter use and directional designations apply to these classic ski trails once the trails are snow-covered and groomed. Northern Highland American Legion State Forest |

The NHAL has four beautifully tracked and wonderfully scenic cross-country ski trails: Escanaba, Madeline, McNaughton and Raven. Escanaba Trail System winds around five kettle lakes and is groomed and tracked in the winter for cross-country skiing. Escanaba trailhead is accessible from a parking area roughly 3.5 miles east of County Highway M on Nebish Lake Road. Restrooms are available near the trailhead. The Madeline trailhead is located just off of Rudolph Road, north of County Highway J heading east from the junction of County Highway 47. There are no restroom facilities. There are roughly 10 miles of wide trails split into four designated loops, some of which used to serve as logging roads. The McNaughton Trail System follows old logging roads and is a very easy scenic trail. This trail is groomed for classic skiing and is great for beginners. McNaughton is the only Northern Highland American Legion trail that has a red loop (the red loop) groomed for skate skiing in winter which follows around McNaughton Lake. The Raven Trail System winds past both Clear and Inkpot Lakes. This trail is groomed and tracked and has some steep hills, especially on the red loop which is designated for expert skiers. All four of these ski trails have warming shelters with a fire ring on the trail. Pets, hiking, snowshoeing and biking are not allowed on the ski trails when they are snow-covered. |

Peninsula has 16 miles of groomed, mostly double-tracked ski trails. These trails are designed to run one way, are color-coded and vary from easy to difficult. Pets, hiking and snowshoeing are not allowed on ski trails. A warming house near Lot 5 on Highland Road is open in winter. Ski trails are groomed and tracked as conditions permit. Skaters have access to six miles of trails groomed for both classical and skate skiing. Hilly topography makes the skate trails more difficult. Pets, hiking, snowshoeing and biking are not allowed on the ski trails when they are snow-covered. |

The park has four groomed cross-country ski trails totaling about 8.5 miles. The Blue, Black and Red trails are groomed for both classic and skate skiing. The Green Trail is groomed for classic skiing only. Winter hikers and snowshoers are welcome in most areas of the park, however they must stay off groomed ski trails. Three trails are designated for winter hiking and snowshoeing, including the 0.5-mile Nature Trail, a 1-mile loop at the picnic area on the south shoreline, and a 1-mile section of the Ice Age Trail following the shoreline just north of the campground. Parking and restrooms are available at the ski trailhead at the Group Camp. |
Price County - Holy Cross Trail |

This very scenic forested trail, within Price County Forest land, offers moderately hilly and rolling terrain through a variety of timber types. The trail is groomed for classic skiing and is good for beginner to moderate skill level skiers. There are approximately 6 miles of easy to moderate trails with several steep hills and multiple loop options. Snowshoeing and Fat Biking are allowed to the side of the set cross-country skiing tracks (please do not ride or snowshoe on diagonal skiing tracks). We ask that trail users not hike the groomed trails without snowshoes during the winter season as this makes the trails difficult to maintain. |
Price County - Phillips School Forest Trails |

There are two separate very scenic trail systems located in the Phillips School Forest. ** The cross-country ski trails consist of approximately 3.5 miles of multiple loops ranging from gently rolling to steep climbs and winds through a diverse forest and an open meadow. The entire ski trail is groomed for skate skiing while loops 1 & 2 have tracks set for classic skiing. In the winter months please do not hike, snowshoe or fat bike on the groomed ski trails. ** The single track system offers approximately 4 miles of challenging trails for hiking, running, snowshoeing and fat biking with multiple ups/downs and sharp turns. Trail users are asked not to hike the groomed single track trail system during the winter months without snowshoes. Doing so makes the trails difficult to maintain. ** The Phillips School Forest trails are open all year. |
Price County - Solberg Lake Trail |

The trail, located on Price County Forest Land, is very scenic and passes through both pine and aspen timber with gently rolling terrain. This trail is groomed for classic skiing and is a very good trail for beginner skiers. There are (2) loops on the east side of Hicks Landing Road and a 1 1/4 mile each way out and back section on west side of the road, across from the trail head for a total of approximately 4.1 miles of trail. Snowshoeing and Fat Biking are allowed to the side of the set cross-country skiing tracks (please do not ride or snowshoe on diagonal skiing tracks). We ask that trail users not hike the groomed trails without snowshoes during the winter season as this makes the trails difficult to maintain. |

Cassian Trail: 9 miles in length in each direction. Located on gentle rolling terrain, and is designed to accommodate users with a wide range of skills. Groomed for traditional tracked skiing. Washburn Trails: Largest and most popular of the 3 ski trails. Located adjacent to Perch Lake Park in the Town of Woodboro. 12 miles long, offering 4.0 miles of trail groomed for tracked skiing, and 8.0 miles of trail groomed for ski skating. As a result of the hilly topography found throughout the Washburn Lake Area, these trails are best suited for skiers possessing an intermediate to advanced skill set. Grab a Fat Bike, Snowshoes plus the skis for a real adventure! Nose Lake: 5 and 9 mile loops. Trail pass required and pets allowed. Directions - twelve miles west of Rhinelander between Hwy K and Hwy 8. Enterprise Bike and Snowshoe Trail: The Enterprise block is a square section of county forestland that covers 20,000 acres in southeast Oneida County. The forest is a mix of hardwoods, aspen, oak, balsam fir and spruce trees, and it has a nice mix of recreation options. In the southwest corner of the block, you’ll find the Enterprise Campground and ATV trail. In all, the Enterprise block has 12 miles of off-road ATV trails. In the northeast corner of the block there’s also a fat bike and primitive ski trail. The Enterprise Block is bordered by Lincoln and Langlade County. Northwood Trails and Sledding: Northwood Golf Club partners up with the Nordic Ski Club each winter to offer cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and sledding on the driving range hill. Cross Country Ski right in Antigo on the Springbrook Trail. The City of Antigo offers two miles of cross-country loops on the Antigo Lake trail. Snowshoeing and winter fat biking are allowed off to the side of the groomed Springbrook cross-country ski trail. The Springbrook walking trail is maintained in winter to walk the boardwalk and trail along Spring Brook and Antigo Lake. Access is available from the 300 block of Byrne Street, off of Langlade Road, the dead-end of Virginia Street, or behind North Elementary School. |

The trail is about 8km long and traverses a bridge and two boardwalks. It traverses wetlands, woodlands, and crosses a stream in flat to gently rolling easy terrain. There is a parking lot for skiers at the north end of the trail on Sundstein Road. |
Track 52 - Skijoring |
|
Track 52 offers 9 miles of skijoring on groomed racing sled dog trails. Due to the rolling hills, Track 52 is an intermediate to advanced skijoring trail. Trails are marked when open to skijoring and sled dog teams. The parking lot is plowed in winter. Food & restroom facilities are available on winter weekends when Kettlebowl Ski Hill (approximately 3/4 mile from the trailhead) is open from noon to 4 pm. |
Underdown Recreation Area |

Over 20 miles of ski trails consisting of several loops with varying degrees of difficulty make this system appealing to skiers of all skill levels. Trails are groomed weekly when snow conditions allow. Horn Lake Road is not plowed for motorized vehicle traffic in winter. Several miles of volunteer groomed fat tire biking and packed snowshoeing trails are also available. A portion of snowmobile trail is located on the eastern side of the area, fat tire biking is not allowed on snowmobile trails located on County Forest property. |

Washburn County is home to several great trail systems for cross country ski and snowshoe enthusiasts. Our ski trails in the area are very family-friendly and are a great place to take the kids out to learn to ski. In addition, Washburn County offers a variety of snowshoe trails. |
Whitefish Dunes State Park |

Due to lack of snow, Cross Country Ski trails are currently closed. Hiking and biking are allowed on designated trails.
When there's snow, the Red, Yellow and Yellow Spur trails, and a portion of the Green Trail are groomed and can be used for cross-country skiing. The beach and Black, Whitefish Creek Spur, Clark Lake Spur, Winter and Brachiopod trails, and a portion of the Green Trail are open for snowshoeing. Park staff do not monitor ice conditions on the lakes. Be extremely cautious of ice conditions at all times. Ice on Lake Michigan off our park’s shoreline is never safe to walk on. |

Clark County - Levis/Trow Mound Recreation Area |

Clark County's premier cross-country ski trail system is Levis Mound. The Levis/Trow Mound Recreational Area consists of 17 miles of expertly groomed trails for skating and classic technique along with an additional 24 miles of ungroomed backcountry routes. The more advanced trails are located to the northwest on Trow Mound, while the easy and intermediate trails lie near the base of the mounds. Backcountry skiers can climb the narrow and difficult single track to the tops of the mounds for a spectacular view of the surrounding countryside. Ski trails are generally open the first part of December thru the end of March of each year, depending on snow depth. Trails are closed during the Wisconsin Gun Deer Season. |

Hartman Creek State Park has six miles of groomed cross-country ski trails. The roughly 5 mile Oak Ridge trail system is located in the northern part of the park and can be accessed from the trailhead near Allen Lake in the park or the Edminster Rd. parking lot. The Pope Lake trail system is an easy 1 mile trail located in the eastern part of the park, near the Pope Lake State Natural Area. Pets, hiking, snowshoeing and biking are not allowed on the ski trails when they are snow-covered. |

Ten miles of groomed and tracked trails and skating lanes await you. Ski through the stillness of red pines, hardwoods, and marshlands. The terrain varies from flat to gently rolling for the novice, to some real “screamer” hills for advanced skiers. All trails are wide and expertly groomed. We are open seven days a week. Ski rentals are available daily, and there is a trail fee. Take a break or finish up your day with a stop at the lodge. Relax in front of the fireplace and enjoy the cozy atmosphere. Hot refreshments and satisfying foods are available. Don’t forget, our rustic cabins are located near the ski trails. |

PLAMANN PARK (Appleton) has over 3.5 miles of groomed cross country ski trails. BUBOLZ NATURE PRESERVE (Appleton) has over 8.5 miles of groomed trails for classic skiing on a 775 acre wildlife preserve. Rentals are available for $20/non-members and $15/members. Rental cost includes trail fee. ART LECKER PARK (Grand Chute) 1.6 miles of mostly flat trails that wind through woods and open prairie. Good for classic and skating style skiiing. MEMORIAL PARK (Combined Locks) Six short trails comprise 2.6 miles perfect for classic skiing. REID GOLF COURSE (Appleton) Enjoy classic and skating style skiing on multiple loops with many small hills. Clubhouse open for snacks and drinks (check hours for availability). |

Cross country ski trail are open on a daily basis throughout the snow season. There are approximately 15km (10 mi) of trails. About 75% of the trails are rated as intermediate or expert trails because of the many hills and distances. Trails are groomed for both diagonal stride and skate skiing. |
Waupaca County Winter Recreational Trail |

The Waupaca Winter Recreational Trail is a multi use winter trail open to fat biking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing. There are multiple loop options and roughly 3miles of groomed trail. The trail is located on the Waupaca Country Club, please respect the Country Club grounds and use only the groomed trail surface. Wandering off the groomed trails can damage the golf course below and put our trail agreement in jeopardy. Please respect the Country Club grounds! |

The Nine Mile Trail System located in Central Wisconsin just minutes from Wausau is one of the top cross-country skiing facilities in Wisconsin. The 18.3 mile (29.6km) trail system is double tracked with an 8' wide skating lane; Trail difficulty ranges from beginner to difficult making this trail system attractive to all skiing abilities. Trails are generally one-way. There are 3.9 miles (6.3km) of ski trails lighted and programmed to go on at dusk until 9 pm daily during the ski season. There are also 6.7 miles (10.75km) of snowshoe trails throughout the forest along with several smaller loops. |

More than 10 miles of meticulously groomed and tracked trails wind through peaceful rolling fields and mature oak-hickory forests. All trails are tracked for classical skiing when snow depth and conditions allow. In low snow conditions, all the trails are groomed for skating. The trails at Blue Mound vary from beginner to more advanced and can be reached from the trailhead at the pool parking lot. John Minix, Pleasure Valley, Willow Springs, Flintrock and Ridgeview (in order from easiest to most difficult) are groomed for skiing when conditions permit. Pets, hiking, snowshoeing and biking are not allowed on the ski trails when they are snow-covered. |

The Nordic and McMiller trails are open for skiing when there is enough snow. Please call the Trail Information Line, 262-594-6202 before venturing out. The McMiller trail system, on County Highway NN south of the Village of Eagle, provides skiing for skate and classical stride skiers. The trails traverse some significant terrain that provides great training opportunities for all skiers. The trails pass through primarily hardwoods forest and pine plantations. Five trails of different distances and degrees of difficulty greet skiers of all abilities. McMiller's heated shelter building is open every day. The Nordic trail system, on County Highway H south of the Village of Palmyra, provides hiking and skiing for skate and classical stride cross-country skiers through a variety of vegetation, hardwoods, pine plantations, open meadows and kettle moraine terrain. There are six different trails of varying lengths and degrees of difficulty, providing great hiking or skiing for all levels of ability. A warming shelter is open every day and convenient parking, vault toilets and a sledding hill are also available at the trailhead. Pets, hiking, snowshoeing and biking are not allowed on the ski trails when they are snow-covered. |

About five miles of trails, including the 1.2-mile White Oak nature trail, are groomed and tracked when weather and snow conditions permit. The trails are tracked for diagonal-stride skiers and groomed for skate skiers. When the trail is too narrow to skate, please ski in the set track. Hiking, snowshoeing and pets are prohibited on all designated cross-country ski trails when they are groomed and skiable. There are 1.2 miles of designated snowshoe and hiking trails in the park. These trails travel along the lakeshore and through the woods, prairie and wetland areas. |

There are 17 miles of loop trails with varying degrees of difficulty. During the snow season, the 2.5 mile lighted loop is lit Monday-Saturday until 9pm. Snowshoe enthusiasts can access the park trail system or for a more individual experience strike out on their own to explore the back corners of the park. |

During winter, Mirror Lake State Park has 18 miles of trail that are groomed for a combination of both skate- and classic-skiing, and 1 mile of trail (Newport Trail) is groomed for classic skiing only. Pets, hiking, snowshoeing and biking are not allowed on the ski trails when they are snow-covered. The park does offer over 6 miles of trails for non-skiing recreation. The beautiful Bristol Woods County Park contains upland forest, wetland, oak savanna remnants, and prairie habitats to explore. Within the woods are over four miles of trails used for bird and wildlife observation, nature education walks, dog walking, hiking, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing. Pringle Nature Center rents snowshoes during open hours and when trails have at least 4 inches of snow. |

Janesville's Rockport Park has over 6 miles of trails color coded for easy navigation. The Friends of Rockport Park provide grooming of the trails as volunteers are available. At Riverside Golf Course, a flat beginner trail is groomed by the golf course staff. Although Rockport Park and Riverside Golf Course offer the only groomed trails, cross-country skiing and snow shoeing is allowed in any City park and greenbelt. Rock County Parks also offer cross country skiing options. Gibbs Lake (9103 W Gibbs Lake Rd, Janesville) and Carver-Roehl (4907 S Carvers Rock Rd, Clinton) are suitable for beginner and intermediate skiers, and Magnolia Bluff (4002 N Croak Rd, Evansville) is best for expert skiers. |

More than 10 miles of trails are open for skiing and snowshoeing. The official ski and snowshoe map is posted online, outside the Visitor Center, and at trailheads. For your safety and to protect restorations, winter habitat, and research, please stay on marked trails. The trails will continue to be open to hikers during the winter months. We advise hikers to avoid established ski tracks. |

Waukesha County Park System has over 16 miles of groomed cross-country ski trails. Cross-country ski trails are expertly packed and tracked weekly for both skating and diagonal techniques (as weather permits). Winter hiking, snowshoeing and dogs are not permitted on groomed cross-country trails. |
Wildcat Mountain State Park |

The park has 7 miles of cross-country ski trails. Skiers can begin and end at the park office or maintenance building. There's a rest stop midway where you can continue or take a short trail turnaround. Beginner and intermediate skiers can enjoy this trail with easy bypasses on steeper areas, as the trail follows along the ridge top. The 2.5-mile loop Old-Settlers hiking trail is transformed into the snowshoe trail in the winter. A snowmobile trail also crosses part of the property. |
