Jefferson County, located between the major city regions of Madison and Milwaukee, is part of Wisconsin’s glaciated region. Much of the region’s tourism focuses on inviting visitors to learn about and experience the beauty and features of the landscape that were formed by its glacial history. The Glacial Heritage Area that stretches into neighboring counties but centered in Jefferson County is broken down into four main areas including Conservation Parks, Linking Trails, a River-Based Conservation Area and Wildlife Areas. Located between two of Wisconsin’s most heavily populated areas, Jefferson County offers a nearby escape for those looking to engage in sports and recreation enjoying Wisconsin’s natural resources in their undeveloped forms.
