Mountain Biking

Wisconsin Mountain Bike Trails

In Wisconsin, there are mountain bike trails for every skill level. Whether you're a novice or want a serious challenge, mountain biking is a great way to explore Wisconsin with your favorite fellow bikers.

Wisconsin’s Terrain: Made for Biking

Wisconsin’s distinct geological features — rolling hills, towering bluffs, and steep ravines — offer plenty of singletrack fun for advanced mountain bikers and novices alike.

From purpose-designed and machine-built trails, like thUp North regions WinMan Trailsto rugged and challenging singletrack that winds through the Kettle Moraine State Forest — you’ll feel the exhilaration riding through all types of trails. And the flowy pump tracks in larger systems like Hixon Forest bring the outdoor excitement of mountain biking to beginners and riders of all ages.

Award-Winning Mountain Biking

The CAMBA Trails in Wisconsin are designated as a Bronze-level Ride Center by the International Mountain Biking Association, meaning these 130 miles of singletrack are some of the best in the world. Located in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, the CAMBA Trails connect 5 Wisconsin destinations: Hayward, Cable, Seeley, Namakagon and Bayfield. So if you’re headed anywhere close by, be sure to brin(or rent) bikes.

Mountain Biking Even in Winter

It might be cold, but winter in Wisconsin is beautiful and a must-experience — even on two wheels. Winter biking is allowed on almost all Wisconsin State Park System trails otherwise open to bicycling, and fat tire bikes extend the biking season, and the adventure that goes with it, through all the winter months.

For some of the best fat tire biking, check out the Nine Mile County Forest and the CAMBA Trails — trails here are groomed and pristine. Frozen lakes and multi-use trails, both plowed and unplowed, offer even more opportunities for winter fat biking.
