Madeline Island Museum


Details

Madeline Island, historically the spiritual home of the Ojibwe people, became an important fur-trading center for the French in the 17th century. Over the next 300 years the island saw the arrival of missionaries, loggers, fishermen, boat builders, miners and -- by the early 20th century -- summer tourists. The log museum building and new Capser Center exhibit hall capture the island's long and colorful history. Musical orientation slide show; museum store.
