6 Must-Do's at Madison's Memorial Union Terrace

If you’re a fan of fresh-air fun, you won’t want to miss these top Terrace experiences at UW-Madison’s Memorial Union.

1. Check, Check …

Check your schedule against the music calendar, where you can catch live music almost every night of the week as part of the Terrace After Dark series. An outdoor bandstand plays host to shows ranging from regional acts to made-in-Wisconsin musicians.

Grab a beverage, pull up a sunburst chair and get ready for free entertainment that’ll take you from happy hour to starry night.

2. Set the Scene

Mark your calendar for select Monday nights when you can watch movies under the stars, courtesy of the Lakeside Cinema series. Enjoy a two-for-one view, while classic movies play on the big screen with the lake just beyond.

The movies are free, and hot dogs, sodas and brats are just a buck!

3. In & On the Water

Get a glimpse of our city’s natural side by exploring sparkling Lake Mendota, where you can create an entire afternoon of adventure!

The Outdoor UW office is located just off the Terrace and rents kayaks, paddleboards and more. All you need is a valid ID (state, UW or Wisconsin Union)!

4. Ommmm...My!

Start your morning the right way with sun salutations on the Terrace. If you’re feeling extra adventurous, try standup paddleboard yoga.

Terrace Yoga classes are great for beginners, offered for minimal cost and include incredible views of Lake Mendota.

5. Get Your Grill On

The Terrace Brat Stand is known to host the best cookouts in town, offering classics like brats, burgers, grilled chicken and locally-grown corn on the cob along with a wide variety of cold beverages.

6. Dessert from the Dairy State

Finish off any meal with a Terrace favorite: deliciously decadent Babcock Hall Ice Cream. It’s made right on the UW-Madison campus and served from The Daily Scoop ice cream shop.

Want our favorite flavor recommendation? Union Utopia, of course!
