Visiting the apple orchard is a time-honored Wisconsin fall tradition. But to add to the fun of apple-picking, these orchards around the state offer corn mazes, family-friendly activities, petting farms and more to amp up autumn memories. Read on to discover the fun happening this fall!
One of the state’s most well-known orchards, this famous apple-pie-in-a-bag purveyor is a wonderful day destination for families in the fall. Besides apple-picking, families can take tractor-pulled hayrides, pony rides or hop on the exciting East Troy Electric Railroad that makes a stop right on the grounds. And what would an apple orchard be without a corn maze? The Elegant Farmer’s got that too.
If the gang has worked up an appetite there’s plenty of tasty comfort food eats for lunch, like BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, chicken pot pie, chili and pie. Don’t leave without perusing their Farm Kitchen Bakery, Deli & Market for baked goods (like the aforementioned apple pie in a bag), cheeses and seasonal fruits and veggies.
Anywhere that has “petting farm” in its name is going to be a winner with the young set. This family-friendly compound has much to do—a nominal admission fee grants access to their you-pick orchard, petting farm and corn mazes. Eight different varieties of apples are available throughout the season, and families are welcome to pick their own or purchase pre-picked bags.
The Apple Orchard Days fest adds in wagon rides and Milk House Bakery treats to the fun. On weekends this fall, check out their Fall Festival with puppet and magic shows, a haunted house, pumpkin picking and more.
With an old brick Apple House building from the 1940s, this fall fruit is the main focus—but there’s plenty of other things to do here, too. Kids will want to start with a stroll through the two-acre corn maze and after, run around on the farm-themed playground. The cute pedal track has large tricycles that littler ones can ride on with a parent and older kids can ride on their own.
Hayrides will take families around the property to enjoy the fall colors and crisp weather—and on weekends kids can take a ride to pick their own pumpkins from the patch. Little hands will also love to feed the goats and watch the peafowl strut around the animal pen. A fall orchard trip isn’t complete without a tasty snack or two, like a scoop of ice cream or brat, and be sure to take home souvenirs from the Apple House like their handmade caramels, muffins, jams and pies.
Enjoy the beautiful fall weather amongst tons of apple varieties at these two northwest orchards—everyone in the family can find a type they like. These family-friendly orchards are tailor-made for memories with their Apple Blossom Park and Farmer Tom’s Barnyard that have wagon rides, playground, pedal track, petting farm and corn maze. Kids will want to pick out their perfect pumpkin to carve in the patch, too. Fall’s bounty is apparent in the country store’s pastries, jams, caramel apples and more for take-home memories.
