Where can you go when you have a dog in tow? Luckily, in Wisconsin, the answer is just about anywhere. Here are 13 resorts and hotels throughout the state with plenty of love for four-legged guests.

Just be sure to call ahead and confirm pet policies and special offerings before your stay.

Justin Trails B&B Resort Sparta

With 200 acres of meadows and woodlands, three ponds and plentiful off-leash encouragement from the owners, Spot might think your stay at Justin Trails Resort is just for him. Take advantage of the fenced dog park, or guest pets can run free away from resort buildings if they’re willing to make friends with the resident huskies, llamas and cats.

There’s no weight limit, and owners will pay a small daily pet fee for suites and cabin rentals.

Grand Geneva Resort & Spa – Lake Geneva

Your pup may not want to go home after a swanky stay at Grand Geneva, which allows up to two small dogs per room with an extra fee. Mequon-based Fromm Family Foods supplies a special room service menu for pets – ranging from grain-free surf and turf to duck and sweet potato.

Guests also get a door hanger for their room, “Guest of Grand Geneva” tags for their dog’s collar and a clean-up packet for use in the resort’s designated outdoor pet areas.

For dog-friendly accommodations right on Geneva Lake, also consider Eleven Gables Inn. Walking along the community’s gorgeous shoreline path, swimming off the pier and meeting the inn’s resident redbone coonhound will give your pal plenty to do!

Leashed dogs are free to accompany their owners throughout this modern boutique hotel. The “staff of animal lovers” at HotelRED will even take your dog for a walk if you’re otherwise occupied in Wisconsin’s capital city. A flat fee covers the extra room cleaning for your pet’s stay.

The Iron Horse Hotel – Milwaukee

This century-old converted warehouse offers cool lofts that are biker-, business trip-, and even bowwow-friendly. Canines large and small will get their own in-room pet bed, bowls and a to-go water bottle, toys, gourmet treats and even a room service menu.

Your pup’s name will be displayed on the lobby’s welcome chalkboard, and the hotel provides dog owners with a list of suggested parks and restaurants. An overnight charge covers your pet’s stay.

For a simpler, no-frills option, try the Arf program at Aloft Milwaukee Downtown. Dogs up to 40 pounds can stay for free!

Country House ResortSister Bay

The owners of this Door County resort love dogs so much, they have their own “canine concierge,” Riley the corgi. For a nightly fee, guest dogs and their owners will get in-room food and water dishes and a bed upon request, along with a welcome basket of towels, furniture covers, waste bags, an all-natural treat and local dog-friendly listings.

An outside dog wash area is a perfect way to clean up after some playtime on the resort’s nature trails and 1,100 feet of private shoreline along Lake Michigan's Green Bay.

For additional dog-friendly lodging options in Door County, try Beachfront Inn in Baileys Harbor or Gibson’s West Harbor Resort on Washington Island.

Inn on WoodlakeKohler

Pet-sitting services are the highlight at this lakeside hotel, part of the larger American Club Resort. Guests pay a flat fee for up to two dogs, each weighing up to 70 pounds, and the inn requests that they be crated if left unattended.

Or, make a reservation for a sitter so your pup doesn’t have to be alone!

Jefferson Street InnWausau

This dog-loving boutique inn offers its own pet-friendly package with a welcome bag of treats and set of pet dishes for your room. The pet fee is conveniently included when you book the package.

The downtown hotel once hosted “Into the Wild” star Jack Hanna and a few of his exotic animals, including a tiger, snake, penguin and flamingo. With the location just a block from Wausau’s Riverwalk and close to parks, your pup will be begging for a walk.

Garmisch USA ResortCable

Most of the Bavarian-style rental cabins at this charming 1920s Northwoods resort roll out the welcome mat for dogs. A pet fee is added to your weekly rate, with seasonal stays available between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

The pristine natural location on Lake Namakagon in Wisconsin’s vast Chequamegon National Forest couldn’t be a better setting for an adventure with your best friend.

Oak Ridge ResortPhelps

One of the few pet-friendly resorts on the state border-straddling Lac Viex Desert lake, Oak Ridge welcomes dogs without size restrictions. A daily or weekly fee is applied to your stay, with an extra cleaning charge if pet hair is left on linens or furniture.

The resort is located north of Phelps within the Nicolet National Forest and surrounded by dozens of sparking lakes.
