Midwest's Supper Club Capital: Three to Try in Calumet County

Wisconsin has long been well known for its famous supper clubs. You can find one just about anywhere in the state, but one county has taken their supper club tradition to the next level.

Calumet County is home to more than 30 supper clubs, a greater number than any other county in Wisconsin. Julie Schmelzer, director of Calumet’s resource management department, took note of this and dubbed Calumet County the Supper Club Capital of the Midwest with an official trademark. Calumet hopes the new title will attract the attention of visitors who might otherwise overlook the charming, welcoming cities and towns in the area. It can be difficult to choose among so many supper club options, so here are some suggestions to get you started:

Darboy ClubAppleton

The Darboy Club is conveniently located just east of downtown Appleton. The Darboy is famous for its award-winning Sunday brunch which features everything from scrambled eggs and breakfast sausage to roast beef and fried shrimp. In addition to the weekly brunch menu, the Darboy also offers an impressive spread during their Sunday dinner buffet in addition to the standard menu.

Jim & Linda’s Lakeview Supper ClubMalone

Featuring four course meals and unmatched views of Lake Winnebago, Jim & Linda’s Supper Club has been serving and expanding since 1978. Schwarz’s Supper ClubNew Holstein

Having been in business for more than 50 years, Schwarz’s Supper Club has earned the reputation of local favorite. Beginning as a one room tavern, this club has seen more renovations than you can count. Their hand cut steaks topped with a secret blend of seasonings set Schwarz’s apart from other clubs.
