Get a taste of Wisconsin’s most iconic traditions at the Travel Wisconsin Supper Club, a first-of-its-kind concession stand at the Kohl Center in Madison.
With room for you and up to 17,000 friends at Wisconsin Badgers games and an array of other events, this swanky stand is a club where everyone’s a member.
You’ll find the stand outside of Section 112 at Gate C – just look for the quintessential neon supper club sign perched atop a cedar-shingle roof. Snappily dressed waitstaff will serve up entrees ranging from prime rib to a fish fry, upscale soup and salad sides, and fried fare like cheese curds and onion rings.
The vinyl upholstered front and reclaimed red oak countertop, mounted deer rack and fish trophy, and historic supper club and UW sports memorabilia will give you the feeling you’re about to discover something more than your typical concourse eats.
“It’s innovative, out-of-the-box and just plain delicious. To our knowledge no one else is doing anything like this,” says Wisconsin Department of Tourism Secretary Stephanie Klett. “Supper clubs have been an iconic Wisconsin tradition for nearly 100 years. Food is a big driver of tourism and this is a fun way to get our tourism message and brand in front of a highly qualified audience of potential travelers.”
The club will offer daily specials inspired by supper clubs throughout the state, including pot roast on Mondays and Tuesdays, smoked turkey on Wednesdays, smoked salmon on Thursdays, a fish fry on Fridays, prime rib sandwiches on Saturdays, baked chicken on Sundays and spaghetti every day.
Don’t miss the stuffed shrimp appetizer, and try a virgin Bloody Mary if you’re in the mood for something other than soda.
“Supper club dining is about atmosphere and simple, authentic meals,” says Chef Jason Steidle of Levy Restaurants, which is running the stand. “To bring the concept together in a sports venue was a unique challenge, and we hope the result will delight fans and inspire continued interest in the decades-old supper club culture for years to come.”
