5 Green Bay Winter Events That Will Warm Up Your Season
Covered in freshly fallen snow with a nip of Jack Frost in the air, we Wisconsinites can’t get enough of our enchanting winter season. Although Green Bay and its “Frozen Tundra” is known for presenting the best football games around (in our humble opinion), the city should be equally known for its myriad of wintertime events. Create magical memories with the ones you love, enjoying horse-drawn carriage rides, dashing through the snow together in your fuzziest winter boots and sipping drinks that warm you from your head to your toes.
Winterfest on Broadway
As a hub in Green Bay featuring an array of shops and restaurants, the city’s Broadway District comes alive with wintertime sparkle with the aptly named Winterfest on Broadway. In one fun-for-the-whole-family afternoon, you can cuddle up with your little ones during their first horse-drawn carriage ride, watch their eyes light up as you look at ice sculptures together, and indulge in foods that are sure to stick to your ribs. As you don your toastiest winter duds, finish your picturesque afternoon by cozying up with your family next to a crackling bonfire.
Green Bay Botanical Garden Winter Celebration
Although the Green Bay Botanical Garden radiates with vibrant colors during the summer, winter is another season where it truly shines. Its Winter Celebration, a day-long event, is when it all comes together. Gather your entire family and go on a self-guided adventure where you’ll learn amazing winter facts (maybe there are a few that you didn’t even know). Take part in a scavenger hunt you can do as a family and enjoy a winter-themed craft kit to keep the fun going at home.
Outdoor Winter Beer Festival
With an outdoor bar to gather around in the summer, it might surprise you that Badger State Brewing Company puts on an event in early March that just might rival it. Round up your pals for the Outdoor Winter Beer Festival. If you’ve been missing all those summertime festivals, this is the chance to get your fix as several Midwestern breweries present craft beers waiting to be held up in a toast (Spotted Cow, anyone?). There are also yard games (challenge your friends to a game of cornhole) and you can even bring your dog so they can join in on the merriment.
The Market on Military: Winter Market
Farmers' markets aren’t just for summer—discover them in the winter too, such as The Market on Military with their Winter Market. Held November through April, you and the fam (or your best foodie friends) can peruse fresh produce, meat and dairy delicacies crafted by local producers and baked goods that will make your mouth water. It’s the perfect place to gather ingredients to make a warm and hearty wintertime meal as soon as you get home.
Café Crawl
‘Tis the season for hot beverages galore! If you’re all about having something warm to sip in your hands throughout winter, the downtown Green Bay Café Crawl is definitely for you and your coffee-loving friends. Enjoy the convenience of a trolley, stopping at downtown businesses, sipping coffee, tea and even devouring sweet treats along the way. When you feel warmed up and sufficiently caffeinated, don’t forget to pick up some treasures from the area’s top shops as well.
