The Blue Hills are ancient mountains that were ground down to hills by the last glacier that retreated from Wisconsin more than 10,000 years ago. The rugged landscape is covered by lush vegetation. Moose Ear Creek is part of a watershed and is traversed by the Ice Age Trail. Very few people visit this area even though it is very rich in bird-life.
