Open Door Bird Sanctuary
The Sanctuary, based on 34 acres in Jacksonport, Door County, is a nonprofit whose mission is both educational and environmental: to raise avian awareness through inspiring and entertaining educational programming and eventually to introduce rehabilitation of songbirds and birds of prey to Door County. Currently a safe and caring home is provided for raptors not able to be released to the wild and they are great assets in our programming mission. The Sanctuary recently completed its first building, The Bird Care Center, which functions as housing for specific birds and staff operations. Other features are picnic area, self-guided hiking trails, wildlife observation and outdoor show area. Open Door Bird Sanctuary is open to the public seasonally. Check Facebook or the website for specific information.
