10 Trips for Adventure and Relaxation in Wisconsin

Option A: active adventurer – for those who don’t shy from a challenge, always looking for new experiences, ready for anything. Option B: solitary cabin camping – for travelers looking for solitude, relaxation and to get away from the chaos of everyday life. Option C: for those who want a little of both.
If you’re interested in Option C, we’ve got you covered. We’ve picked some of the most adrenaline-pumping, fast-paced, adventurous activities across Wisconsin, and some of the most tranquil, quiet and relaxing places to stay afterward.
Where to play: The Wisconsin Dells area is full of adventures. Choose from the Wilderness Canyon Zip Line Canopy Tour, hiking or rock climbing at Devil’s Lake State Park and making your way through the Heightened Adventures Aerial Park…or if you’re extra adventurous, hit up all of the above!
Where to stay: Wilderness Cabins, Wisconsin Dells – You get the benefits of staying at The Wilderness Resort but the serenity and seclusion of a cabin in the woods.
Where to play: For thrill-seekers in search of a more relaxing adrenaline rush, take a hot air balloon ride over Lake Geneva with the Lake Geneva Balloon Company. They have a perfect safety record and are a highly-respected member of the tourist community in providing gorgeous views of the Geneva Lakes area.

Where to stay: Hauser’s Bayfield Cabin – A cozy cabin tucked in the woods, offering a peaceful and serene experience…the perfect place to wind down from your sea cave adventures.
Mississippi River Valley
Where to play: If you’re curious about scuba diving but aren’t ready to “dive right in” to the open waters, the Try Scuba Diving program at Marineland Dive Centers in Onalaska offers a scuba experience in a controlled setting for a fun and easy introduction. If you find you enjoy it, Marineland also offers a scuba certification course!
Where to stay: Hawks View Cottages, Fountain City – Head north along the Mississippi to find romantic cottages and lodges tucked away in the bluffs of Fountain City, and while there, try some of their Seven Hawks Vineyards wine.
St. Croix County
Where to play: Hit up the largest skydiving center in the upper Midwest, Skydive Twin Cities in Baldwin, with the best and most experienced instructors available for both tandem and solo skydives. Head to the Baldwin location for amazing views of western Wisconsin.

Where to stay: Amherst River Dance Cabin, Amherst – Just east of Wisconsin Rapids sits Amherst River Dance Cabin, a quiet and tranquil log cabin with even more adventures on-site, such as canoeing, kayaking, snowshoeing and fishing.
Where to play: What’s more exhilarating than flying in a glider? Sylvania Soaring Adventures in Beloit, a commercial flying school, provides glider rides to the public. The view is incredible and the experience is like nothing else.
Where to stay: Emerson House, Beloit – Stay in a cozy and historic stone cottage with a serene and relaxing atmosphere, not to mention breakfast each morning, tasty appetizers each evening, and desserts before bed.
Where to play: Thorntons Whitewater Rafting Resort & Campground in Athelstane offers whitewater rafting trips on the Peshtigo and Menominee Rivers, as well as a leisurely paddle on a calm section of the Peshtigo River. Professionally-trained guides will teach the basics of rafting, and trips from Class I to Class V are offered.
