Wisconsin Summer Fun Report: 8/4/11 – 8/10/11

Carpe diem! There may only be one month of summer left, but lucky for you Travel Wisconsin’s Summer Fun Report is here to help you savor each and every minute of it! This weekend is no exception.

Cream puffs, blue ribbon livestock, fried (just about anything) on-a-stick, pig races, impromptu street acts, one giant slide, and the list goes on. You guessed it! We’re talking about the Wisconsin State Fair, which runs Aug. 4-14.

New this year, we’re going for world records! Witness an attempt at the largest cheese sculpture in the world. How much cheese does that require, you ask? More than 1,000 pounds! Talk about a cheese-lover’s dream come true. If cheese isn’t your thing, swing by to check the making of the world’s largest cream puff.

Meanwhile, join the celebration of National Mustard Day at Wisconsin’s own National Mustard Museum in Middleton on August 6. The festivities include games, live music and FREE hot dogs topped with – surprise, surprise… summer cookout staple – mustard. This year will commemorate the 20th anniversary of Mustard Day, so don’t miss out on the excitement!
