Gartzke Flowage Recreation Area
The area has a diverse topography with high ridges and plateaus that drop sharply in some areas and gradually into the flowage basin in other areas. The flowage divides the Gartzke property nearly in half but is connected by a 70-foot wooden bridge. These trails are very scenic and traverse through a Norway Pine Plantation, upland hardwood, and cedar swamps along the flowage. Several spring seeps dot the landscape and add to the natural beauty of the area. Facilities include a parking area, restrooms, a shelter on the south trail system, and a recreation shelter located near the bridge.
The Antigo Bike and Ski Club grooms and tracks the 6.5 miles of cross-country ski trail for both classical and skate skiing. Snowshoe trail is also available.
Gartzke Flowage Recreation Area is open for hiking and mountain biking in the spring and summertime.
