Intermediate Architecture Workshop
July 15, 2019 - July 19, 2019
Students will learn the basics of digital modeling using Trimble SketchUp Make (free) as applied to an individual architectural design project. The course will explore architectural design issues like space-shaping, scale, proportion, materiality, energy & sustainability, aesthetics, and representation. Students will learn how to use the software as a design tool rather than simply a means of representing their design ideas. They will learn how to properly construct digital models and how to generate impressive images in order to present their design. Each student will need to bring a laptop with a power cord and mouse with Trimble SketchUp Make (free) installed, a camera or smartphone for photos, and a sketchbook is recommended. Lunch, full estate access with teaching staff and all other materials are included. Prerequisite: previous architecture workshop experience and a good understanding of the general architecture design process and basic vocabulary.
