Edward Curtis, born in 1868 built his first camera at the age of twelve and embarked on his lifelong photographic career. 150 years later, we are proud to bring this unprecedented, comprehensive photographic record of the North American Indian. Curtis and his native co-creators preserved for future generations, an important era in American history and provided a powerful opportunity to understand many elements of North American Indian experience.
