This series will feature artists whose work contains strong elements of cinematic. Mise-en-scène is a term used in cinema to describe the overall composition of objects and actors on a stage, and many of the artists will use stylistic elements more common to film and theater, such as stage sets and props, to create immersive environments in the galleries.

The ten artists in the exhibition The Autotopographers were selected based on their compelling ability to blend autobiography, history, and contemporary practices, these artists will delve into this concept of autotopography employing a variety of methodologies and materials, each exploring aspects of the self in both 2-D and 3-D forms.

In addition to this group show, three accompanying exhibitions will be on view for the Mise-en-Scene series, including newly commissioned installations by Saya Woolfolk and Scott Reeder as well as the first major retrospective of artist Mark Baum (1903–1997).
