The Great Pumpkin Fest is a community event celebrating the fall season with a focus on youth and the development of STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) skills in local schools. The event highlights a Pumpkin Chuckin competition where teams will build trebuchet to launch an 8 to 10 lb. pumpkin for distance. The event features “The Best of the Midwest BBQ Cook-Off”, this is a sanctioned Kansas City Barbecue Society event. The Fest includes an abundance of family-friendly activities including; free kids games & activities, rides, a pie eating contest, pumpkin baking contest, and costume contests for youth.
