Veterans Day recognition event at The Highground will include: a 10am reading of over 2,000 names of Wisconsin KIA/MIAs from the Korean War through present day; an 11am ringing of our replica Liberty Bell in special recognition of the 102nd year anniversary of WWI; and a 1pm ceremony.
Starting the day at 10am, the Wisconsin KIA/MIA/POW names from WWII to present day will be read and honored with the tolling of The Highground Liberty Bell. The Thorp VFW Post #9057 will present Colors on the Plaza at 11am. The Highground will have the honor of presenting Betty Sitler as their guest speaker. Betty is the wife of Harold “Red” Sitler, who was captured at Chosin Reservoir during the Korean War and held as a POW for three long years.
Veteran support and services will be onsite for continued resources. Coffee and cookies will be served. SPECIAL NOTE: Due to the COVID-19 extended and stricter state-mandated mask requirement, the event will be held outdoors and the length will be determined by the weather.
