The Mining and Rollo Jamsion Museums Season Opening
May 1, 2021 - October 31, 2021
The Mining and Rollo Jamison Museums are pleased to announce a return to our full regular season, and we invite you to join us for our season opening May 1. We will be open 10am-4pm, with free admission to Platteville residents all day May 1.
This is an exciting year for the Museums, as we are commemorating three milestone anniversaries – the 50th of the completion of the Mining Museum, the 45th of the opening of the Bevans Mine, and the 40th of the Rollo Jamison Museums! This year the Museums will be open to visitors daily for our full regular season of May 1-October 31 at our beautiful 3-acre museum campus. The past year has brought many new and exciting changes to the Museums. The addition of the beautiful Gail and Wes Kopp Memorial Pollinator Garden and new exhibits focused on science and technology such as “There is Nothing New Under the Sun” bring a new perspective and dimension to our displays. In the words of our Museum Director, Erik Flesch, “in this milestone anniversary year, is it more important than ever to reconnect to our roots as a living laboratory for innovation, know how and can-do spirit.”
In line with this, our exhibit spaces have been redesigned with many new artifacts and interpretive displays to enjoy.
