New York Times best-selling author, humorist, singer/songwriter Michael Perry returns to the OAC stage with his new stage play based on his extraordinarily popular book, “Population: 485.” Directed by Jake Lindgren and featuring original music by Sean Carey, the show made its debut in August, 2016 under the Lake Superior Big Top Chautauquatent near Bayfield, WI. Like the book, the stage version picks up when Perry, who serves as the show’s narrator, returns to his childhood town of New Auburn in rural northwest Wisconsin and joins the volunteer fire and rescue department.The heartfelt stories of neighbors helping neighbors leave audiences chuckling as they ponder life and the strength of a Midwest community.
