Step back in time as the Neophonic Jazz Orchestra takes the OAC’s Main Stage for an unforgettable afternoon of Broadway music. Conducted by Stan Kenton alumnus Joel Kaye, Madison’s premiere 24-piece big band, jazz ensemble will perform stunning arrangements from the 1962 Grammy-winning album, Kenton’s West Side Story. Beloved tunes from South Pacific, Damn Yankees, My Fair Lady, and other classic Broadway shows will round out an amazing music tour through the midcentury Great White Way.

In addition to the saxophone, trombone, trumpet, and rhythm sections typical of big band jazz, the NJO also boasts a section of four mellophones, a brass instrument with a timbre similar to a French horn. NJO’s collection of instruments achieves what jazz historians and Kenton enthusiasts call “a wall of sound,” a music style as exhilarating as it is rare in today’s music world.
