Ready to feel the power? Wausau, WI has become the newest host city for Championship Powerboat National Racing. The Grand Prix of Wisconsin will feature tunnel hull catamaran powerboats, which are the fastest and most agile racing boats in the world. Reaching top speeds of 125 mpg, the pilots of these boats experience G-Forces greater than most professional race car drivers as they “fly on water”, while their wake creates a constantly changing race course.Formula 2 powerboat racing is an International action sport with professional racing series that travel throughout North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Races typically begin with 15 boats that are 16 feet long and weigh approximately 1,100 pounds (with the driver), and are powered by a stock-spec carbureted 2.0 liter Mercury racing engine. Due to the unique tunnel hull design, these boats almost appear to hover above the water and are able to be driven close to the shoreline, keeping the intense action near the spectators.  Admission and parking are FREE.
