The Paavo Nurmi Marathon

Named after legendary Finnish runner Paavo Nurmi, The Paavo Nurmi Marathon is Wisconsin's oldest marathon and celebrates the rich Finnish heritage of the Hurley area while welcoming runners from across the country to experience the beauty of Hurley and the Northwoods.

This historic race offers a scenic and memorable course for runners of all levels.

Friday August 7, 2026 Registration & Packet Pickup @ Hurley K-12 School from Noon-7pm

-Spaghetti Dinner @ Hurley K-12 School, Time TBD

-Kids Race @ Hurley K-12 School, 6pm

-Twilight 5K Run - Start & Finish at Hurley K-12 School, 6:30 p.m.

-Torchlighting Ceremony @ Corner of 5th Avenue & Silver Street, 8pm

Saturday, August 8, 2026, Final Packet Pickup @ Iron Horse Trailhead, Corner of 5th Avenue & Silver Street - MUST BE PREREGISTERED - NO LATE REGISTRATIONS!

-The Paavo Nurmi Marathon, Half Marathon, & Relay Start @ 7:30 a.m.

-Full Marathon & 5 Person Relay Start in Upson.

-Half Marathon Starts in Gile.

-Post Paavo Party on Silver Street from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 pm.
