The Sap Run Scramble

The Sap Run Scramble is a slippery, muddy choose-your-own adventure through the Embark Maple Forest during peak syrup season near Viroqua, Wisconsin. Participants wind through a scenic maple forest on a rugged 5K course while choosing their own style of challenge—from a family-friendly “Foodie 5K Tour” featuring a sugarhouse stop and maple-inspired snack breaks along the way, to the endurance-testing “Last Person Standing Ultra,” where runners repeat the hilly 5K loop each hour until only one remains.

Set on a working maple farm, the event celebrates the energy of maple season and the joy of being outdoors. Adult admission includes wood-fired finish-line pizza, a beverage, a bonfire gathering, and optional rustic camping. Hosted by Embark Maple—an adventurous maple-farming family known for crafting Maple Energy and Bourbon Barrel Aged Maple Syrup—the Sap Run Scramble blends trail running, maple treats, and community into a uniquely Wisconsin spring experience.
