About Club 400
The Club 400 tavern has been a longstanding part of the community and is recognized as a historic landmark. Its name is derived from a train—Soo Line Locomotive #400—which used to pass through town daily around 4pm The venue features a dining and bar area with happy hour and weekly specials. It is famously linked to the legendary guitar innovator and Waukesha native Les Paul, who first performed there in 1949 when his brother and father opened the venue. Additionally, this was the site where Les Paul and Mary Ford first played their guitars together in front of an audience.
