Trail Description
Along the shore of Lake Michigan, Grant Park in South Milwaukee boasts sanded beaches and miles of trails through forests and ravines. Hike the natural surface Forked Aster Trail or the popular Seven Bridges Trail(about 2 miles) with lannon stone steps, wooded bridges, and benches on its way to Lake Michigan. The Oak Leaf Trail, a paved multi-use recreational trail, also passes through the park. There is no fee for parking, or the use of the trails. Picnic tables and a playground can be found in Area 3 and Area 7/8 at the Wil-O-Way entrance and at the main beach which is located south of the clubhouse at 100 Hawthorne Ave. Picnic areas and a pavilion in Area 5 and 7 can also be reserved through Milwaukee County Parks.
Condition Description
Trails are in good condition. Many spring ephemerals are in bloom: Jack in the Pulpit, Virginia Bluebells, Mayapples, Trillium, Bellwort, Trout Lilies, Bloodroot and Violets. Restrooms open at this time can be found at the golf course clubhouse, Area 3 and Area 5. Please stay on the designated trails to reduce erosion on the slopes and to protect the natural habitat.
