Trail Description

Janesville's more than 30 miles of trails, including a segment of the statewide Ice Age Trail, are free for public use. Many of the trails in Janesville are paved, perfect for biking, walking, running and rollerblading, and they connects neighborhoods, parks and attractions throughout the city. In addition to the paved trails, a portion of the Ice Age Trail that is suitable for hiking includes the Devil's Staircase segment in Riverside Park and the Arbor Ridge segment in the Robert O Cook Memorial Arboretum, with additional hiking trails running throughout the Arboretum. There are also seven miles of shared hiking and mountain biking trails in Rockport Park. The map indicates just one of many paved trail access points, this one located in Palmer Park, with access to a large parking lot, restrooms, pavilions, and a seasonal visitor information center. Other parks with paved trail access include Riverside Park, Rockport Park, Monterey Park, and Sheiffer Park (no restrooms). Restroom facilities are available in parks April 15 through October 15. Pets are welcome on the trails from September 16 through May 14. Visit the website to download a map of Janesville's Trail System, the Rockport Park trails, and the Robert O. Cook Memorial Arboretum trails.
