Nestled in Fond du Lac near the County Campus, the Gottfried Prairie and Arboretum is a 45-acre living museum celebrating Wisconsin’s natural heritage. Visitors can wander three miles of trails through restored prairie teeming with over 75 species of wildflowers and grasses, attracting birds, small mammals, and insects.

The five-and-a-half-acre arboretum highlights Wisconsin’s “Tension Zone,” where northern and southern plant communities meet, showcasing trees from eight forest types alongside shrubs and wildflowers. Relax by the wildlife pond, explore the Ellen Flood memorial garden, or attend educational programs and events throughout the year.

Whether hiking, birdwatching, or enjoying a peaceful day outdoors, the Gottfried offers a unique opportunity to connect with nature and experience Wisconsin’s diverse ecosystems.
