About Sugar River State Trail
The Sugar River State Trail offers 24 miles of scenic riding between New Glarus and Brodhead, passing through rolling countryside, farmland and small Wisconsin towns. Along the way, stop to explore local shops, museums, parks and other attractions.
Near the south end, you'll roll through a reconstructed covered bridge, while pastures dotted with Holsteins line the trail north of Brodhead. Stop in Albany for a view of the Sugar River dam or detour through Monticello to visit Montesian Gardens and Lake Montesian. At the north end, explore New Glarus, America's "Little Switzerland," known for its Swiss-style architecture and European charm.
A short access trail also connects to New Glarus Woods State Park, which offers family and primitive bike camping, with a shady picnic area that's a popular place to start or finish a ride.
