About Lake Ivanhoe
Explore the African American history of Lake Ivanhoe. Only five miles east of Lake Geneva, the town of Lake Ivanhoe is rich with early African American heritage in Wisconsin. Established in 1926 by three prominent, black Chicago community leaders, Lake Ivanhoe became the go-to destination for weekend entertainment.
Many African American families who founded the town still have decedents living there today. Travelers have access to the lake from a public boat landing where they are encouraged go fishing, take a walk by the lake and breathe in the rich heritage of this historic and prominent African American community. Lake Ivanhoe is a 46-acre lake located in Walworth County and has a maximum depth of 10 feet.
