About St Peter's Dome
St. Peter's Dome is an approximately 3.6-mile round-trip hike. The trail to St. Peter’s Dome is fairly rugged with quite a bit of exposed rock in the trail tread and steep climbs. The trail winds and climbs up to approximately 1,600 feet in elevation. On a clear day one can see Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands over 20 miles to the north. Also known as "Old Baldy," St. Peter's Dome is the highest point in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. The summit makes a great spot for a picnic after the exertions of the hike. St. Peter's Dome is owned by the U.S. Forest Service and was designated a State Natural Area in 2007.
