About Horicon National Wildlife Refuge
Horicon National Wildlife Refuge makes up the northern two thirds of Horicon Marsh (22,000 acres) and is federally managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. It’s an ideal location to view unique spring migrants as well as spectacular concentrations of waterfowl during the fall. The refuge offers 10 miles of hiking trails including a floating boardwalk as well as a 3 mile driving loop. The refuge visitor center, located on Cty Rd. Z (W4279 Headquarters Road, Mayville), offers exhibits, hiking and native gardens. Opportunities are available on the refuge for bicycling, fishing, snowshoeing and cross country skiing. Education programs are available for the public as well as privately scheduled groups.
