About Platteville Community Arboretum
Bicyclists Welcome! The David Canny Rountree Branch Trail is managed by volunteers of the Platteville Community Arboretum. The main trail is over 3 miles long and connects to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville campus and the Mound View State Trail. Spurs of the trail create 5 miles of the Platteville Trail Network along the Rountree Branch stream. The path features prairie, wetlands, savanna, and hardwood habitats, plus a Class II Trout stream. The trail is a mostly flat asphalt path featuring the local flora and fauna of the area, along with the occasional wildlife visitor. This paved and lit trail has views of the stream, four bridges, informational kiosks, picnic tables, benches, art installations, native garden plots, and even a handicap accessible fishing deck. Seasonal portable toilets can be found along this path, and direct access to several restaurants along Business 151 and Katie's Garden, which is adjacent to the Platteville Regional Chamber and Wisconsin Welcome Center.
