The Steinhaugen land, located in Custer, is a 270-acre managed forest and nature preserve in the Town of Sharon. This unique parcel was purchased by Portage County in October of 2015. The Steinhaugen Recreation Area is a great spot to do some backcountry cross country skiing as they have 7km miles of ungroomed trails available. The property features a diverse landscape with the Plover River, hardwood forests, pine plantations, and open fields within the area.
