The Wisconsin River Every Season
Celebrate Wisconsin’s four seasons with a unique experience every time of the year.
During the fall, visit parks and explore trails as you take in vibrant scenery. Some of our favorites are Marion park, Town Hill State Park and the Ferry Bluff State Natural Area. Perhaps even enjoy a family picnic underneath the fall foliage of reds, oranges and yellows. A winter wonderland takes you through sparkling snow and ice that lines the lakeshore. This trip is perfect for sipping warm hot cocoa and winter activities like sledding, ice skating and a fun snowball fight. Greenery and blossoming flowers take over the landscape in the springtime. Get an up-close look at these beautiful colors with hikes and picnics. And there’s plenty of picture-perfect moments on this trip. A summertime road trip calls for an adventure with endless water activities including kayaking, swimming and soaking up the sun along the byway’s many beaches and shorelines. Pettibone is our favorite must-see beach in La Crosse with a view of the riverwalk.
This getaway can be done in a day or extend it into a multi-day trip perfect for exploring together along Wisconsin’s second-named scenic byway, the Lower Wisconsin River Scenic Byway.
