About Great Sauk State Trail
The Great Sauk State Trail is an 11.25-mile paved trail built along a former rail corridor in the heart of Sauk Prairie. The scenic route runs along the Wisconsin River through Prairie du Sac and Sauk City, extends through the Sauk Prairie Recreation Area, and continues developing toward Devil's Lake State Park.
Perfect for walking, biking, in-line skating, and wildlife viewing, the trail offers sweeping river views, peaceful natural areas, and easy access to charming downtown districts.
Trail passes are required for bikers and in-line skaters age 16 and older. Passes can be purchased at:
- Sauk Prairie Riverway Welcome Center | 109 Phillips Blvd, Sauk City
- Village of Sauk City | 726 Water St, Sauk City
- Village of Prairie du Sac | 335 Galena St, Prairie du Sac
Passes are also available at designated self-registration kiosks located along the trail.
