Rusk County

  • Updated: 2/22/2017
  • Condition: Closed
  • Base: 0 -2
  • Groomed: No

Snowmobile Trails - Rusk County trails will close Thursday, February 16 at 8am due to poor conditions and warm weather. This is a temporary closure, meaning trails could reopen should conditions improve. Trail conditions have deteriorated this week and will continue to do so with even warmer weather forecast. The decision to temporarily close will hopefully help preserve those areas where a base is still present and prevent damage in areas that are already bare. Riding on area lakes and rivers is discouraged. Swamps and creeks may be soft or have open water, and beware of ice crossings due to ice chunks and possible open water. No ice should ever be considered safe. Check back for updates and changes in trail status as weather/conditions change. www.ruskcountywi.com/snowmobiling/

Kenosha County

  • Updated: 3/13/2017
  • Condition: Closed
  • Base: 1 -3
  • Groomed: No

Though we have received some snow, Kenosha County Trails remain CLOSED. Some of the trail signs had already been removed prior to this snow, and there is logging along some of trails. But most importantly, due to the extremely warm weather we've had recently, and the fields are thawed and mushy. We do not want to ruin the fields and upset our landowners. So, trails remain closed. Please call (262) 671-4944 throughout winter for the most current and official notice of trail condition (open or closed). Note: There must be 4” of snow if the ground is frozen, or 6” if the ground is not frozen, to open the trails. The groomers go out if there is at least 6” on the ground. Conditions will vary by location, and our county trail system opens or closes on an all-or-nothing basis. The decision to open or closed is based on the conditions throughout the county. www.VisitKenosha.com

All trails are closed. No snow in our area. Please continue to monitor the snowmobile trail hotline for updates (414) 299-0330.
