The Historic Dodge House

Guests can stay in the home as a vacation rental and experience Victorian-era Montello firsthand. Because of the historic furnishings, we keep it a quiet, respectful stay, perfect for couples, families, and history lovers.

We also offer guided history tours that walk through the Dodge House, the Montello Theater, and the story of the Montello granite quarry at Daggett Memorial Park, whose granite was used for Grant’s Tomb. Each tour ends with a Buster Keaton silent film and complimentary popcorn at the theater.

Throughout the year we host classes, seasonal events, and special retreats at the house, from baking and stitchery to holiday gatherings. Every dollar earned goes toward preserving both the Dodge House and the Montello Theater for future generations.

Built in 1893 by Frank J. Dodge, the same family behind Dodge’s Opera House, the Historic Dodge House is the newest chapter in our story. In late summer 2026, we purchased the home, reuniting it with the theater for the first time in over a century. We knew we had to bring the two Dodge family landmarks back together. Since then, our family has been filling it with period-appropriate Victorian pieces, many found locally, to bring the home back to how it might have looked in the 1890s.
