The newly renovated apartment is located in Burlington's Historic District. It was originally built in 1914 as the Free Press, Burlington's local newspaper at the time.  Throughout the years the building was also home to a furniture store, milk depot & butter factory, meat market, upholstery shop, laundromat, and music store. "The Music Mart" was one of the building's longest tenants, lasting from 1950 to 1986. The name "The Mart Apt" pays homage to the building's rich history.
