A winding drive, enshrined in tall pines and snow, instantly makes all my muscles relax. Deer dart through the forest, easily seen against the winter-white backdrop. And as I pull up to Sundara Inn & Spa, I let out a deep breath as I feel myself further unwind, anticipating the full relaxation that lies ahead.

I can think of few stress relievers in Wisconsin that are better than Sundara. I've purposely made appointments here after going through particularly stressful experiences, and I always come out feeling renewed. I'm partial to their facials (specifically, the Purely Organic Facial, which leaves me with that idyllic just-had-a-facial glow), but what really keeps me coming back is their Purifying Bath Ritual. The indoor bathhouse, with warm and cool rainfall showers, a body mist, a steam room, an essential oil-infused hot pool and a cool plunge pool, makes me feel like a million bucks. It's also the perfect place to spend time with friends. I have introduced more than one of mine to this special place, and this time it is my mom who has joined me. We're looking forward to soaking up some much-needed self-care time together.

No matter what time of year you choose to go, the ambiance and surroundings will soothe your soul, but my favorite season here is winter. Even on the chilliest days, I love swimming in the heated outdoor pool, the steam and encircling trees cradling me into a tranquil state of mind.
