Enjoy a Packer-Themed Weekend in Green Bay

Share

You don’t need tickets to a Packers game to celebrate your love for Green Bay’s iconic football team. Green Bay offers plenty of ways for you and your loved ones to indulge in all things hailing the Green and Gold.

Explore the Unique Titletown District

Start your weekend by visiting Titletown, a unique development just steps from Lambeau Field that offers amenities for visitors and residents alike. Head to its spacious park first, where you and your group can toss a pigskin on the regulation-sized football field or head to the game courts to play bocce ball, ping-pong and more.

The kids in your group will enjoy the playground, which features football-inspired equipment and a marked area where they can race one another in the 40-yard dash. In winter, the sloped green space of Ariens Hill transforms into a tubing hill. Titletown also boasts restaurants, a brewery and the luxe Lodge Kohler hotel.

Book a Lambeau Field Stadium Tour

At Lambeau Field, one block away, sign up your group for a tour of this iconic football field. As you stroll through the stadium, your guide will explain the history of the Packers, a 13-time world champion team. All tours include an exciting trip through the players’ tunnel leading to the field; expanded versions take you to the end zone rooftop, press box and the visiting team’s locker room.

After your tour, make your way to the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame, where your group can browse one-of-a-kind artifacts, check out a replica of Vince Lombardi’s office, and peek at the equipment used by current and former players. There are loads of interactive exhibits, too. Don’t forget to stop by the Packers Pro Shop before you leave to snag some Packers-themed merchandise.

If you and your crew have the energy, stroll along the City Walk portion of the Packers Heritage Trail. More than a dozen plaques are sprinkled around downtown Green Bay that tell the story of the Green Bay Packers. You’ll see the old Packers office building, for example, and Curly Lambeau’s birthplace home. Earl Louis “Curly” Lambeau was the force behind the creation of the Packers, unique for its grassroots ownership and location in the NFL’s smallest host city. Ninety-minute Packers Heritage Trail Trolley Tours of the entire path are available, too.

When hunger strikes, you’ve got your choice of Packer-related spots to dine. 1st and Goal Sports Bar and Grill is a Packer-themed restaurant and bar featuring live music and Sunday game-day specials. At Titletown Brewing Company, Green Bay’s first craft brewer, sign up for a brewery tour, which includes a flight of four pours and a souvenir pint glass. You’ll also get to drink from the “beerbler,” a water fountain (aka bubbler) that substitutes Titletown suds for water. The brewery’s menu features tacos, sandwiches and grilled bratwurst.

Chives Restaurant was a favorite of former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. This fine-dining spot in neighboring Suamico offers fried calamari, almond-crusted brie and grilled Angus beef filets. In the Lambeau Field atrium, 1919 Kitchen & Tap is a fan favorite. You’ll find loads of burgers on the menu, plus flatbreads, ribs, fish and, of course, fried cheese curds.

Complete your Packer-themed weekend with a stay at Lodge Kohler in Titletown or the exquisitely renovated Hotel Northland in downtown Green Bay. The nine-story Hotel Northland — Wisconsin’s largest when it opened in 1924 — served as the NFL’s temporary headquarters in the 1960s. Curly Lambeau once lived here, as did many Packer players, imbuing it with a rich Packer vibe.
