When’s the last time you’ve had a truly unique food experience? The Wisconsin State Fair challenges the status quo and offers bizarre dishes from cinnamon roll & bacon cheese curds to a bbq sandwich on donuts. These new foods will make you have to look twice at what you are about to taste -- and it’s delicious. We had to share a few creations that you can’t get anywhere else.

Cinnamon Roll & Bacon Cheese Curds 

What if we told you the classic Wisconsin deep-fried cheese curds can get even tastier? 

Indulge in deep-fried cheese curds dipped in a sweet batter and mixed with crispy bacon. To top it off, on a cream cheese frosting, it's sprinkled with cinnamon sugar (and, of course) bacon crumbles. This treat is the perfect combination of sweet & savory and is this year’s must-experience fair food.

Glazy Boy

A cookout type of dish with a sweet surprise? They take two fluffy Grebe’s glazed doughnuts, put it on the grill, and top it with a brined and slow-smoked pork loin (yes, we just did that). To finish it off on a flavorful note, it is topped with belgioioso fontina cheese, raspberry whole grain mustard, and pickled jalapeños. 

This dish will be sure to wow you and may have you rethink what you want to grill at your next family-cookout. 

Peanut Butter Squealer

You’ve probably heard of chicken and waffles, but have you ever heard of a maple-infused breakfast sausage, then baked inside of a fluffy Belgian waffle? Now is your chance to try this not-so-typical breakfast food that is far more sweet. Oh, and did we mention, it’s smothered in peanut butter and topped with bacon (because you can’t have breakfast without a little crispy goodness).

Deep-Fried Pineapple Express

We love to deep fry all the best foods and sprinkle it with powdered sugar and top it with only the best glazes- so we deep-fried pineapple rings, rolled them in coconut, sweet panko bread, and drizzled it with piña colada glaze and powdered sugar. So “If you like piña coladas…” then be sure to check out this pineapple masterpiece.

Sorrentina Bites

Buon appetito! If you’re a fan of Italian food, then you will be doing your happy food dance after this one. 

Add that Italian flair to the fair by relishing in a deep-fried Ditalini pasta covered in Italian cheeses, and served with vodka or marinara sauce. If your mouth isn’t watering yet, it sure will be once you see this dish, and it will be- delizioso.

Polish Puppies 0n-a-Stick

But have you really had the full state fair experience without eating a mouth-watering creation on a stick? This fair food (more like culinary masterpiece) takes it to the next level with warm, crispy deep-fried hush puppies stuffed with a jalapeño sausage with sautéed onions, sauerkraut, cheddar cheese and dipped in a savory buttermilk sauce -- what a mouthful to say and an even more delicious mouthful to eat).

These creative dishes that you try at the fair could win this year’s Sporkie Award. It’s the state fair’s annual competition for unique and unusual foods, showing off all of the unique combinations made, and the winner gets a golden spork.
