About Fr. Samuel Mazzuchelli's Grave Site & Church
One of Benton's most historic structures is the St. Patrick Catholic Church, built by Father Samuel Mazzuchelli, a pioneer priest who designed and built some 25 churches, designed seven public buildings, and established eight schools in Wisconsin, Iowa, and Illinois. Mazzuchelli's last home was in Benton, and his rectory has been restored and moved back near its original site, next to the church and within walking distance of his grave site.
